Flag of Ugandawas born in Uganda and nowadays she is living in Denmark. At the age of eight years she gets into a recruitment - camp of the Ugandan Resistance Army NRA (National Resistance Army) which is led by YOWERE MUSEVENI, today's president.

There she was given a new name:

China's eyesShe was called "China" by her instructor as she is slant-eyed. And she was given a gun.

Taking part in her first encounter she is confronted with the cruel reality of war completely unprepared. Deeper and deeper the young girl tangles into the spiral of violence. Nonetheless the straight structured NRA is a substitute family for this uprooted girl.

After MUSEVENI's victory 1986 China Keitetsi firstly becomes bodyguard of a high ranked functionary, later on she changes to the Military Police.

The best - selling novel, German title: "They took my mother and gave me a firearm" (the English title: Fighting for my life") is an unique evidence and an insistent appeal to ostracize the deployment of child - soldiers.
