Current project: Home for 15 former child soldiers/orphans Erection of a home for 15 former child soldiers/orphans, aged 8-l8 years in Rwanda with an option for further enlargement: 4 sleeping rooms, 1 large working room, 1 kitchen, 1 storing room, 2 bathrooms/toilets, 1 office Workshop garden for their own supply 1 pick-up and 1 minibus Employees: 1 social worker, 1 cook, 1 gardener Current situation: The project supporter is Missio München (International Catholic Mission). Missio München has agreed to the application to build a house and home for former child soldiers and/or orphans in Rwanda. The Archbishop of Rwanda has been asked to support the project. Help is needed by “sisters” and “brothers” who take care of the children who will be living in the planned house. Why do we do it? China answers herself: "First of all we want to help former child soldiers and/or orphans living in the street. We want to give them a home and education in many respects. But we also want to make the people in Africa take it as their responsibility to take care of their children (we pay the school fees) – which means extending this help to more than l5 children living in the house." (China Keitetsi) What can we change? The project is oriented to improve future prospects of the children and young people. We want to provide the children an opportunity to find themselfes, to obtain independence and to also realize, that there are human beings who love and think of them. China to this: "If we look at a child soldier we don’t look at what he will become 10 years later. In case he is a boy he has the chance to become a General who could take over the power – like Idi Amin! In case it is a girl she will produce more child soldiers. We want to prevent this. We want to give them a chance to find themselves, learn independence and to also realize there are some people who love them and think of them. This will change the child soldiers past, to enable a better future." (China Keitetsi)
